Intro
Welcome to The Unquiet Rising.
Let me offer you some background into why I've decided to start this blog.
The last five years or so have been incredibly enriching. I have developed some wonderful friendships with strong, beautiful, hard working and funny women.
All of these women are different ages. They have different backgrounds. They have had different upbringings and belong to a variety of generations. Some have kids. Some don't. Some are married. Some are not.
But whilst getting to know them, I have realised we have something in common and that's a negative experience with a man.
The experiences themselves range from coercive control, plain neglect, financial abuse and sexual abuse. The shock is that every single woman I have spoken to has had something to say, and that has affected their life, their financial situation, their physical and mental health as well as their relationships with other men or women.
Please don't get me wrong; this blog is not an outlet of man-bashing. As a wife and devoted mum of two boys, the last thing I want to do is preach about how all men are the absolute worst. But I feel that sitting back and listening to these stories isn't enough.
So, I guess my future aim is for women to see these stories and realise they are not alone; that women have gone through these things and have survived for the better. And for men to read this and acknowledge behaviour from their peers, acknowledge that it is not all men (but lots of men), and to understand all of the women in their lives; their wives and daughters, mums, sisters, friends, colleagues. And to protect themselves too.
Toxic behaviour isn't a one way street. We all have to be accountable to each other, especially when it feels like these situations are on the rise. As if misogyny is on the rise in schools in 2025?!
Anyway, what seems like waffle right now, I hope becomes something to help people. To understand each other and embrace each other.
I am calling out all women (men and other) who might want to share their story. Please be comforted that all stories will be accepted in total confidence and you will always remain anonymous. If you have positive stories, please please share too.
Thanks for dropping by.
